Building Momentum: DCOS 2024–2025 Year in Review
As 2025 draws to a close, the Development Corporation of Snyder (DCOS) is proud to reflect on a year defined by growth, collaboration, and community impact. From local business expansion to citywide revitalization, every success this year reflects the spirit of partnership that makes Snyder so special.
Driving Economic Growth and Local Investment
This year, DCOS facilitated over $2.29 million in capital investment and supported the creation or retention of 29 full-time jobs, fueling more than $3.7 million in local economic activity.
Wall Concrete Co. & Wall Construction Co. expanded with a $1.8 million investment, strengthening Snyder’s industrial backbone and supporting 21 local jobs over the next 3 years.
Cinema Snyder made a triumphant return, thanks to a $475,000 revitalization project led by the Beaver family, bringing new energy to downtown and offering residents a state-of-the-art entertainment venue.
These projects reflect the confidence businesses have in Snyder’s future, and the power of DCOS’s partnerships to turn vision into reality.
Revitalizing the Heart of Snyder
Through the Economic Improvement Initiative, DCOS invested more than $331,000 across 23+ projects, transforming storefronts, enhancing curb appeal, and renewing pride in the city’s commercial corridors. Local businesses such as Stormy Brooke Designs, Bucks & Bows, Landry’s Heating & Air, and Dennis Quick Auto stand as visible examples of how strategic local investment creates ripples of growth across the community.
With the 2026 grant cycle officially open and applications already moving forward, new projects will begin appearing across Snyder in Q1 2026.
Empowering People and Partnerships
Economic development is about more than numbers, it’s about people.
In 2024–2025, DCOS deepened partnerships with Snyder ISD, Western Texas College, and local industry leaders to support workforce programs like the Electrical Lineworker Program and hands-on student events such as the Junkyard Build-Off.
Initiatives like our Lunch & Learn series and Connect Snyder created space for collaboration and learning, bringing together business owners, civic leaders, and residents to share ideas and strengthen the local business ecosystem.
Recognition for Excellence
DCOS’s work earned statewide recognition this year, including:
The 2024-2025 Economic Excellence Recognition from the Texas Economic Development Council (TEDC), honoring the organization’s professionalism and board training.
The Community Economic Development Finalist Award (CEDA) for its innovative façade improvement initiative that boosted local property values and community pride.
Local honors, such as the Chamber’s Business of the Month, celebrating DCOS’s visible leadership and community engagement.
These recognitions highlight DCOS’s reputation as a trusted and forward-thinking organization that combines strategic expertise with a genuine commitment to community.
Financial Growth and Responsible Stewardship
Behind every project is a foundation of strong fiscal management. This year’s growth includes $450,000 in increased assets in addition to the $650,000 secured through grant funding. DCOS also reduced liabilities by more than $218,000 and increased equity by over $1.3 million, reinforcing our long-term capacity to invest in Snyder’s future.
Financial strength gives DCOS the agility to seize new opportunities while maintaining the accountability and transparency that the Snyder community deserves.
Looking Ahead: One Snyder, One Vision
From revitalized corridor storefronts to strengthened workforce programs, Snyder’s growth story is one of collaboration, confidence, and care. As Executive Director Barbara Leatherwood shared, “Snyder is building a more resilient, connected, and opportunity-rich community for all.”
With the Economic Improvement Initiative returning, expanded industrial capacity, and growing regional partnerships, the year ahead is full of possibility. Together, DCOS and the Snyder community are writing the next chapter, one that’s bold, inclusive, and full of promise.
